EMBRY RIDDLE CAPSTONE PROJECT EXAMPLES

As an industry, we have searched for decades to find an answer for this problem. Improving the acceptance of human factors science within pilot operating culture will require understanding the disproportionality of internal and external influence as reported by pilots through the survey. This book comes from a series called controlling pilot error, one of which was authored by my advisor Dr. Pilots will be asked the degree to which FAA regulations, organizational culture, and pilot operating culture enhance or detract flying safety in the airlines. This Project defines the problem and sub-problems, and looks at how they will be applied to the program outcomes of the ASCI Graduate Capstone Project. A recent study of human factors learning across a spectrum of high consequence occupations revealed a correlation of improvement in CRM to the learning of the practitioner. We have scientific methods and technology to decrease human error and they are not being used to their full potential by pilots and organizations.

While developing the problem for this project many literary sources were reviewed and a few laid the foundation for this research. The book focuses primarily on pilot error and how it relates to culture environment and CRM all of which built the foundation for this project. A rejection of the null hypothesis means that there is a difference between the two groups and further investigation is warranted. The most surprising comments on surveys were that pilots in training thought the seminar was a waste of time! Program Outcome Three 3. Purportedly, many other airlines would go over CRM in a 15 minute or 1 hour presentation, seemingly in an effort to meet the minimum FAA requirement.

This will help to identify the disproportionality of internal and external influence on pilot operating culture as reported by the survey.

The student will investigate, compare, contrast, analyze capstond form conclusions to current aviation, aerospace, and industry related topics in education technology, including computer based instruction, simulation systems, education foundations, curriculum development, continuing education, adult teaching and learning techniques, and memory and cognition.

The core problem to this project, as stated in Program Outcome Four, was the synthesis of conclusions reached in the reviewed literature.

Pilots in an organization need a consistent message to pronect the core values of their pilot culture within their organization. Program Outcomes for Graduate Capstone Project 7.

Human factors science is empowering to pilot safety culture and is at the core of preventing human error related accidents. The focus of the book was on internal pilot operating culture, CRM concepts pilots should know and how they apply to their operating environment.

The significance will be explored through the research hypothesis.

The data will then be extracted into two groups and prepared for the Mann Whitney U test. The main premise for integrating CRM with airmanship concepts is to replace outdated behaviorism concepts. In addition to identifying roddle of weakness from internal influences, the data also reveals external influences of concern.

The expectations of the pilots are muddled and many airline pilots have stopped pursuing excellence as a result. There were twenty internal and external influence questions asked on the survey. Figure 1 Numeric averages of each survey question and corresponding question designation.

Mann Whitney U Test [4]. There were 15 respondents to the survey; the proposal stated a need for at least respondents. Pilot operating culture is also externally influenced by how the company and the FAA regard human factors science. The Analysis will be performed as described in the response examplez Program Outcome Two. This will be accomplished by using objective based training combined with facilitation. All of the respondents are current FAA part airline pilots.
